It’s hard to believe we’re well into 2024 now. It feels like yesterday that we were watching fireworks over the Pacific and setting our new resolutions.
And so we thought we’d share. Because while every year may start with a resolution, we all know that successful resolutions aren’t just set; they begin with great planning – often, well in advance of any NYE declaration.
By late 2023, we were already strategizing for 2024. From new locations (hint, hint!) to greater international reach, more social media engagement, and innovative, strategic marketing, we’ve set the bar even higher than it already is. Because at Blue Water Properties, we’re no strangers to setting new goals to challenge ourselves. New goals to reflect upon the following year.
But before we get into all that, we thought it was the perfect time to reflect on all our milestones and successes in 2023. While Blue Water Properties of Costa Rica has grown over the decades, we’ve also remained a hyper-local company. As we grow, enhance, and refine our offerings, we remain committed to improving lives and our community. And that’s exactly where 2023 led us.

Year in Review: 2023 by the Numbers
If we ever thought we’d tire of saying “record year,” then we were wrong! We pulled out all the stops in 2023 and the year gave back, in spades!
Let’s start with the heart of Blue Water Properties: our team! In 2023, our team of 35 real estate agents kept the title of the largest independent team in Guanacaste. We also expanded into Nosara (see below), and now cover an incredible 3 hours of North-Pacific coastline – from Papagayo and Playas del Coco, south through Playa Hermosa, Las Catalinas, Playa Potrero, Playa Flamingo, Playa Conchal, Tamarindo, Hacienda Pinilla, Playa Negra, and Nosara. (Not all locations listed!)
Together, we sold an incredible $114,000,000+ in property! That’s another record – even over 2022, which at $103,000,000 was already a record year! – and one that we’re incredibly proud of. It all comes back to our incredible team, as well as our powerhouse marketing and networking, which saw:
- 17+ million Instagram impressions;
- Nearly 4 million YouTube views;
- Over 2.2+ million emails sent;
- Over 5 million Facebook impressions;
- 33,000+ email subscribers;
- And a lot more!

Blue Water Properties of Costa Rica’ New Office: Welcome to Nosara Real Estate!
We are excited to announce that 2023 ushered in our newest office, located in the Nicoya Peninsula beach town of Nosara. To make it official, we’ll celebrating our grand opening on January 30!
So, why Nosara? This picturesque beach town is firmly ensconced within Costa Rica’s Blue Zone and is home to an unshakably chill vibe, spectacular outdoor pursuits, and an incredible wellness lifestyle. It’s also one of the fastest-growing real estate markets on the North-Pacific coast; it’s clear that our clients are clamoring for Nosara!
Indeed, it is a special town to call home. Nosara is the kind of place where you can dine on five-star fare… while you’re barefoot, toes buried in soft sand. It embodies its motto of “no shirt, no shoes, Nosara” – an unabashed and casual essence that invites both locals and visitors alike to bask in the sun, downward-dog with a view, and become one with their surfboards.
With seemingly endless sandy coastlines, abundant wildlife, and a lifestyle that revolves around the outdoors and holistic wellness, this laid-back beach town has fostered a close-knit community of Costa Ricans and expats, drawn by the trilogy of sea, surf, and health.
Groundbreaking: Our New Main Office + a Commercial Center in Flamingo
2023 was a banner year for Blue Water Properties of Costa Rica’s growth and progress. In addition to opening our Nosara office, we successfully scouted and planned the site for our new main office: a commercial center in Playa Flamingo.
The only catch – it’s not built yet! So our founder and CEO, Rebecca Clower, who is also a real estate investor and developer, made plans to develop it. On January 8, 2024, we broke ground on that new commercial center in Playa Flamingo, which will feature two stories and a 30-person conference room. Our initial completion timeline stands at 7 to 8 months. We’re so excited!
New Project: Two Condo Towers
Through Rebecca Clower’s (Becky’s) development initiative, we’re also breaking ground this year on two new condo towers of eight units each. The as-yet-unnamed (coming soon!) project is located in the Punta Playa Vistas community, where Mango Walk is located; Mango Walk is another of Becky’s projects – a 21-lot development that as a Blue Water Properties of Costa Rica team, we sold out in just 5 months!
Punta Playa Vistas is a community located only a 10-minute drive from the town of Matapalo, 25 minutes from Tamarindo and Flamingo, and 12 minutes from Huacas. The closest beach – Playa Real/Pirates Bay (Bahía de los Piratas) – is located just 1/4 mile (.4 km) from the property – about an 8-minute walk. It’s already a sought-after location and we are excited to sell out these two new condo towers!
Update: Purchasing in Paradise Now Filming (Again!)
In 2023, we dropped the first episode of Purchasing in Paradise, a new real estate reality show that follows Blue Water Properties agents as we sell some of the most desirable properties on Costa Rica’s North-Pacific coast.
Becky Clower, our half-American, half-Costa Rican CEO and founder of Blue Water Properties of Costa Rica, helms and hosts the show. In Episode 1, we explored some spectacular properties, including the newly remodeled, luxury Villa Sueños; the spectacular $4.25M Casa Isla Vista at Las Catalinas Real Estate, a walkable community; and La Perla, a penthouse suite with gorgeous Tamarindo Bay views.
Of course, in grand BWP style, we also partied it up like you can only do in paradise! Episodes 2 and 3 are coming soon. And now, we’re proud to announce that in February 2024, we’re filming our next episodes. We’ll be dropping each episode on Becky’s YouTube channel. Update: Home for the Holidays
We are overjoyed to be handing over the keys later this month for our 2023 Home for the Holidays. Our Brasilito neighbors, Meibol Paniagua and her children are the recipients of this year’s fundraiser!
Meibol is a single mother to 4 children, and they have spent years living in poverty and deplorable conditions, with a makeshift home made out of pieces of metal and wood, no screens, and little protection from the elements. Despite the family’s efforts in their own at-home business, they struggle to make ends meet.
We are so grateful to have partnered with our BWP family to raise money throughout the year, with a final push during the holiday season, to finish this home for Meibol and her family. Stay tuned on our Instagram and Facebook for photos when we welcome Meibol and her family to their new home!
Update: Anthony’s Restaurant is Fully Operational
In 2023, we introduced you to Anthony, a member of our local Guanacaste community who survived a hate crime. Faced with trauma and injury, Anthony did not give up. Instead of tragedy, he turned his story into one of resilience and determination.
We’re so happy to share that thanks to our joint efforts, we funded hope and in late 2023, Anthony’s food truck opened for business! Come for the wings, come for your other food-truck favorites – from tacos and casados to vigorón and enchiladas – because Anthony’s dream is now a delicious reality!
