Welcome to Tamarindo!

Tamarindo has many wonderful restaurants and services to help make your vacation special. We

have taken the liberty to list a few here to assist you in having some memorable dining

experiences and to help acquaint you with the many services offered. Please note that there are

over forty restaurants in Tamarindo but we have only listed a few of our favorites. If you have

any questions, please feel free to drop by our office, email us or give us a call!

Restaurants:

Pizzeria Las Baulas - If you want pizza, look no further, Las Baulas is your place. It’s a classic

in Tamarindo, with a great location and nice family atmosphere. Just behind Hotel Pasatiempo,

next to Dragon Fly, very nice place with great prices.

Kahiki- A local favorite, and now located at the old Pachanga restaurant!! Susan provides a wide

menu for the entire family to enjoy. Some of her tastiest plates are the Asian style tuna, pork

chops, homemade lasagna and don’t forget the tuna tower for an appetizer. Open for breakfast,

lunch, and dinner, closed on Mondays.

Noguis/Sunrise Grill – On the circle and directly in front of the ocean. Noguis is the place for a

great meal and PIE: Banana Cream, Coconut Cream, Chocolate, and more. Also try their quiche.

They have great Surf n’ Turf for dinner and the shrimp tacos are a delight for lunch. It’s great for

breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Closed Wednesdays.

Coconuts Located across the street from Witches Rock Surf Camp. Katherine, the owner and

your hostess, is there every night to greet you. She stocks a full bar and serves up some of the

finest fish and meat in town. Leave a little room for her new all chocolate dessert – topped with

chocolate ice cream! Open six nights a week!

La Laguna - This Bistro is located almost across the street from the Best Western-Tamarindo

Vista Villas Hotel at the end of town. You won’t find food like this anywhere else in town, nice

set up, beautiful bar and gourmet food. This is definitely one of the best dining experiences in

Tamarindo.

Seasons by Shlomy – Mediterranean food served by one of the best chefs in town. The former

owner of Pachanga has re-opened his new restaurant at Arco Iris Hotel. A must in town, you

can’t miss it. Open Monday through Saturday from 6:00PM to 10:00PM. Considered the best

restaurant in town by many.

Dragon Fly - Outside seating, great atmosphere, and good food. Tish, the owner and chef, has

created an eclectic and tasty menu. Located just behind Pasatiempo Hotel.

Ursula’s Restaurant- If you are looking for “Good Honest Food” this is your place. The menu

covers all taste buds from Southern Comfort food to seafood. Located about 150 yards east of

Pasatiempo. The price is right and the portions are large. We always leave with a doggie bag.

Gil’s Place- It’s back in town and located in the same commercial complex as the Tamarindo Gym (right past Ursula’s on the left hand side. Gil’s provides Tamarindo with some of the best breakfast and lunch burritos in all of Tamarindo. Try the “Killer Gorilla” and we guarantee you’ll walk away satisfied. The fish tacos and tostados are very popular with the locals.

Olga’s Coffee shop – Great coffee, good location, and outside seating. Too hot for coffee? Howabout some tea, a smoothie or a cold latte? Good pastries as well. Located at the Voodoo Lounge, about 100 yards from our Tamarindo office.

Soda Las Palmas- Located in Villarreal just 4Km outside Tamarindo. This is the place to tastereal Costa Rican hot plate breakfast and lunch on the cheap. Located just behind the school. It’s just a short 10 minute drive from Tamarindo. Open Monday through Saturdays, 6:00AM to 2:30PM.

Punto Tranquilo- Another great typical restaurant, located in Huacas 15 km outside ofTamarindo. If you are headed to Flamingo, Playa Grande, or Liberia, leave some time to stop and get a ceviche and a beer, you won’t regret it. The rice with shrimp is good and the fish is always fresh. A unique experience that we recommend and another ‘cheap eats’ place.

Mandarina- If you are looking for a place to have a smoothie, milk shake, or fruit juice look no

further. There are two convenient locations in Tamarindo: across from the Voodoo Lounge and

in the new shopping center just outside of town.

French bakery- These guys really have it all, from a fresh croissant and a fresh coffee in the

morning to a great pizza slice or a calzone for lunch. They’re located in the center of town by the

road to Langosta or across from the Best Western hotel.

Bars and Nightlife:

Aqua Discoteque: Dance the night away at the only disco in the area. Nice atmosphere, big

parties, good DJ’s.

Bar 1 – Looking for a good drink, nice ambiance, maybe a sushi roll? Look no further; Bar 1 is

one of the best bars in town, located at the top of the Tamarindo Plaza.

Sharky’s – Any night of the week you can catch your favorite sports teams while rocking to your

favorite music videos on one of the 4 large projection screens. Located next to the Costa Rica

Surf Club.

La Barra – Live Salsa/Merengue on Wednesday nights. Located on the cross to the Langosta

road.

Pasatiempo Hotel & Bar – Sports bar with 4 flat screens TV’s, live music and open mic on

Tuesdays. They also serve good food, breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Surf Club Sports Bar - Your bar in Langosta, open Wednesday through Mondays,

5:00pm-10pm, Sundays open starting at 2pm-food served on weekdays.

Services:

Banco Nacional- Located on the main road across from the Diria Hotel, this is one of the busiest

places in Tamarindo. You can change traveler’s checks (must have a passport), dollars (both

Canadian and U.S.) and get money off a VISA card (passport required). They now have an ATM

which will accept most ATM cards.

Banco de San Jose- Your alternative to the always crowded Banco Nacional, more reliable

ATM, less wait (at least for now). Located in Plaza Conchal.

Banco de Costa Rica- Located also at Plaza Conchal, all the way in the back, go and pay your

exit taxes there and avoid a long line at the airport.

Farmacia- We have a few in town, one in Plaza Tamarindo. You will also find one on the main road just south of the Diria Hotel and another just across from AutoMercado in the shopping center just outside of town.

Pedro’s Pescador- Located on the beach, next to Noguis. The local fishermen bring their fresh

catch to Pedro and he will sell it to you. Depending on the catch and the season, you could get

Dorado, sea bass, mackerel and more. And keep an eye out for the pick-up trucks around town

with the large coolers on the back that say “Mariscos”. They often have lobster and jumbo shrimp at a good price.

Supermercado Auto Mercado- Located just outside Tamarindo, in the Tamarindo Garden

Boutique Plaza. By far the best supermarket around. It’s one stop shopping at its best.

Don Fernando Meat market- The best place to buy meat in town, right across the street from

Auto Mercado outside of Tamarindo.

Supermercado Supercompro- Located across the street from the children’s park, just a block

from Plaza Conchal.
